Moises Chino, Honduras
Brother Moises visited with us at Harpeth Hills on Sunday, May 19. Our church family as a whole was blessed by his presence. Moises spoke at each of our worship services, and was presented with a plaque in recognition of his 30 years as a Harpeth Hills missionary in Honduras. A special contribution was collected, and we are pleased to report that over $30,000 will be placed in a retirement fund for Moises. Thank you all for your spirit of generosity.

God has provided in so many ways. He brought a girl named Sandra, who is our school psychologist, into my life, and she has become a great friend and support… He has also encouraged me lately through several members at Harpeth Hills Church of Christ. He has definitely answered my prayers. This life in Guatemala is one I couldn’t have dreamed of, but it is one that also requires a lot of encouragement and support to sustain my emotional and spiritual health.

As is customary in Africa, things are moving along, but very slowly. The house we originally had rented has not worked out. We are in negotiations for another house, which will be a better option than the first anyways. It is a 2-story, 9-bedroom house. Once it is cleaned up I think it will be perfect for us. Pray that all will go well with those negotiations.

I often fall into the trap of counting all the things that have gone wrong rather than counting my blessings. Every once in a while though, I have a moment. A moment of overwhelming gratitude. I stop in my tracks upon being smacked in the face with the reality of all the awesome-ness God has gifted me. It is amazing how gratitude is able to make everything enough.

Several of the boys had invited me to be their mom and come eat lunch with them… Although I am not their birth mother or even their adopted mother, I feel like these boys are my family. I feel protective over them. Punishing them hurts me worse than them (finally learned that lesson was true). I am happy when they are happy. I am elated when they are successful and hurt for them when they are down.

One of Jesus’ very special traits was His ability to foresee the future of His followers…We wish to follow the path of our Teacher and see work with young people as a good investment in the future of the church in Argentina at a national level. We ask for your prayers that these nationwide projects, such as youth camps, may always continue to march forward.

We only have three more Sundays before we return. The church decided that they want a full-time minister and chose Valdizan. He and his family are already very involved in serving the church. Please pray for the church as they try to take on the responsibility of providing financially for Valdizan and his family.
