Domestic Missions Update

Donation Days
Our third annual Donation Days event continues this weekend, Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4. All donated goods will benefit Joelton Elementary and the Inner City Thrift Store. Look for large moving trucks in the east parking lot where we are collecting food, clothing, furniture, household goods and more. Pink shopping bags are still available in the Welcome Center and Kids’ Koncierge.

Tennessee Prison Outreach Ministry
Our summer camp for children of the incarcerated takes place June 1-6. This camp will allow us to reach sixty children. Currently, 55% of the incarcerated have children under the age of 18, and the majority of incarcerated parents were the primary caregiver before going to prison. This statistic alone should help us realize that one of the unintended casualties of incarceration is the children impacted by the temporary loss of a parent. You can sponsor a camper for $150.

We have new volunteer opportunities for summer camp, CCA in Nashville, Deberry Special Needs Prison and Woodland Youth Development Center. Contact Grant Carey

Ethos
Serve Our City – We will not be gathering for worship at our normal times and locations the Sunday following Easter. Instead, our act of worship for that day will be serving our city in the name of Jesus with one another. We don’t simply want to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus – we want to participate in the Resurrection of Jesus. Each of these service locations is an extension of weekly ministry opportunities led by Ethos Church family members.

Leaving the Cocoon
Crystal is serving time in prison due to a cocaine addiction. She wrote bad checks to Wal-Mart and Kroger to help support her habit. She says, “I figured in my ‘addictive mind’ that writing bad checks to big companies wasn’t bad. After all I would pay it back someday and they were big enough to handle my bad checks. She said there was always the idea of God in her life…even during the addiction time.”
