Elder Announcement

The following announcement was made on Sunday morning, October 24 at Harpeth Hills:

Several weeks ago we let you know that we wanted to begin the process of adding additional elders. We mentioned at that time a primary reason for adding elders is to help us with shepherding. Ten of us cannot even begin to adequately look after 700 families.

Your response to this request was gratifying. More of you participated than ever before—in fact over 100 additional people participated in the process. You nominated a total of 114 individuals. Every man we are presenting for your consideration today received significant support from the congregation.

After much prayer, personal interviews and ongoing discernment, we are proposing to add five men to our number. We have spoken with each of them and their wives, and they are willing to serve in this role.

The men are David Flow, Stuart Fraser, Mike Green, Dana Janssen, and Parker Panovec.

flow

David Flow

David and Lisa Flow have three grown daughters. David currently serves as a Coordinating Deacon over Missions and has an interest in numerous good works that help the poor. He is President of Flow Construction. The Flows have been at Harpeth Hills for 11 years.

fraser

Stuart Fraser

Stuart Fraser is married to Melissa and they have a son and a daughter. Stuart has been very involved at Camp Hy-Lake for years. He is the President of Clark Marine. Stuart grew up as a preacher’s kid in South Africa and has been at Harpeth Hills since 1987.

green

Mike Green

Mike Green is married to Teresa and they have been at Harpeth Hills a little over a year. The Greens have two children. He is the Chief Information Officer at Lipscomb University. Mike is a skilled teacher and has served as an elder at other congregations. Mike and Teresa have obviously very quickly endeared themselves to this church family.

janssen

Dana Janssen

Dana Janssen is married to Lacy, who serves as one of our children’s ministers. Dr. Janssen is a Pediatric Cardiologist. The Janssens previously worshiped with us when Dana received training at Vanderbilt, and they returned to Harpeth Hills for good in 2007. They have three daughters. Their twins, Audrey and Elizabeth, are currently in the youth group.

panovec

Parker Panovec

Parker Panovec is married to Debbie and they have been at Harpeth Hills for three years. They have a son and a daughter. Parker replaced Dr. Tom Henderson as the Medical Director at Faith Family Medical Center. Dr. Panovec practiced in Jackson, Tennessee for many years.

We will now enter into a time of additional discernment and prayer. We want to hear from you. Give any feedback you may have to any of the current elders. After an appropriate amount of time, perhaps two weeks or so, we will then move forward with plans to ordain these new shepherds in November.

For The Elders,

Tom Henderson
