Note from Chris Smith: April 29, 2020

Dear Harpeth Hills,

I kind of hit the wall on Monday. I was blue knowing we were canceling all church activities for May, tired of being cooped up, sick of TV, disinterested in reading, missing the grandchildren, and thinking normal or semi-normal would never return.

From observing the body language of those on a Zoom call this week, I don’t think I am the only one.

But since that day, I have learned or been reminded of the following:

A roof over one’s head is not to be taken for granted.
Girl Scout cookies frozen for one year are still surprisingly good.
In the words of Annie, the sun does indeed come up tomorrow.
Church friends send the kindest notes.
No one in my house or in my family is sick.
If you still have a job, you might ought to keep your whining down.
Tom Brady left the Patriots, so that means they won’t be any good next year, right?
My garage is the neatest it has been in years.
Salvation by grace is awfully good news.

Hang in there.

I love you.
