The graphic words of Deuteronomy 23:1 are not the final words on this topic. Later the prophet Isaiah says, “For I say this to the Eunuchs who keep my Sabbath days holy, who choose to do what pleases me and commit their lives to me: I will give them–in my house, within my walls–a memorial and a name far greater than the honor they would have received by having sons and daughters.” ((Isaiah 56:4-5) And then of course the cool story of the Ethiopian Eunuch who came to faith in Jesus. Eunuchs were not barred from God’s presence forever.
