In the gospel reading today we have the story of Mary and Martha. Mary sits at the feet of Jesus while Martha scurries around getting the meal together. Martha asks for a little help, suggesting perhaps that her sister get up and make a contribution to the preparations. Instead, who is praised by Jesus. Mary!

As a task oriented person I must say this story is hard to swallow. Which is one of the joys of reading scripture. We don’t always find in it what we are expecting or what we want to hear.
