A Note from Our Shepherds: May 10, 2020

Dear Harpeth Hills Family,

In many ways the last 10 weeks has felt like being shipwrecked on an island and carving that daily notch in a tree trunk to keep up with how many days we have been marooned. It is comforting to remember that Harpeth Hills is not going to look like this forever. It is almost time to get the signal fire started, because we can hear the slight moan of plane engines from the search party looking for us.

While there have been some good days over the last several weeks, we still long for:
1. Snuggles with the grandchildren.
2. Getting to visit and hug our elderly parents and grandparents.
3. Loading up the car with your classmates and grabbing some Sonic.
4. Being on a walking path and not having to move on the grass to distance yourself from others.
5. Seeing Chris or Jason in the flesh on Sundays instead of staring at a screen in your PJ’s. Well, okay, the PJ’s are not so bad!
6. Worshiping shoulder to shoulder with your Harpeth Hills Church family.

We want to thank you for the ways you have stayed engaged with your church family. We see people commenting on Facebook, folks delivering food, and a host of others who have shown love and leadership. We are especially encouraged by the insightful devotionals led by members of the HHYG. Thank you for the ways you have loved your church, community, and city so well during these unprecedented times.

Remember these words from Isaiah 40:30-31. “Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint”.

With Love,

Your Shepherds
