Dear Harpeth Hills Family,

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us
throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us
run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the
pioneer and perfecter of faith.” Hebrews 12:1,2

As 2020 began, I often heard people say the words, “2020 – perfect vision” and “all is clear ahead.” Now at this point of the year, January 1st seems like years ago and unimaginable events have occurred these past months. At times it feels quite challenging to organize or plan for the days and months to come, much less find a job, stay healthy, and so forth. In seeking out data or information to improve life, the experts are sharply divided leaving us at a loss.

Now everything about 2020 points to God pleading with us to look to Him. He is not telling us to do it alone. He left His Spirit to dwell in us, to walk closely beside us, and to help us run this race of life – especially in 2020.

We are a few weeks away from election day and all that entails. Several years ago, I will confess that I became engrossed in the presidential election and felt disappointment over the result. In time, God put on my heart that I never should have looked to a certain person or group of people to solve problems or bring peace.

Our Father loves us unconditionally and desires to walk with us the rest of the way through 2020. Only God can supply the answers we need and the peace we crave. He is the only source of 20/20 vision and the Truth!

Let’s fix our eyes on Jesus!
