Mary: The Lord’s Servant

This video helps us understand something of the unique place of Mary in the Jesus Story.

1. Do you agree that Protestant students of the Bible may not have given Mary the attention and honor she deserves? See Luke 1:28,48b.

2. Can you imagine the sense of apprehension and fear Mary must have felt when Gabriel appeared to her? What sign did the angel give that his message was from God?

3. Read The Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55). What is the theme of this Spirit-given song? How does it tie the Jesus Story to the Old Testament promises of a Messiah?

4. Some have supposed there is a degree of rudeness or disrespect in Jesus’ words quoted at Mark 3:32-33 or in John 2:4. What do you think? What do you hear in his words?

5. What information do you have about Mary from this video that is new to you? Encouraging? The most important insight?
