Psalm 133
How good and pleasant it is
When God’s people live together in unity!

OPEN

Has there been a time when you knew that you were really united with another person or a group of people? What was that like?

NEXT

Read Psalm 133:1 together. Why is it good and pleasant when God’s people live in unity together? Is unity always good and pleasant? When have you seen people unite in a way that was not good?

Read Psalm 133:2 together. What do you know about this oil that is described? Why was it precious? Why did they pour it on Arron’s head? What was the purpose? You might look at Exodus 30:22-33 as a place to start. How is the unity that is described in verse one like the oil in verse two and the process of pouring it on Aaron’s head? What is the connection?

Read Psalm 133:3 together. What do you know about Mount Hermon? You might do a quick internet search. Where is it? How high is it? What does it look like? What about Mount Zion? Where is that? What is it like? How far is it from Mount Hermon? What do you think the first part of verse three is talking about? How is the unity that is described in verse one like dew from Mount Hermon falling on Mount Zion?

What do you think the second part of Psalm 133:3 means? What is the connection between verse one and verse three?

So what makes the unity of Psalm 133:1 good? What is it like? What is its source? What unites the people of God? Why is that unity “good and pleasant?”

In our own day, what makes unity difficult among the people of God? What sabotages our unity? How is unity possible? Is it possible? What should be the source of our unity?

CLOSING

How can you personally work toward the unity that is described in Psalm 133? How can this group work together for the sake of that unity?

What do you need this group to be praying over you this next week?
