One Year Bible Post from Chris Smith: March 23

Reading for Today: March 23
Numbers 36:1—Deuteronomy 1:46
Luke 5:29—6:11
Psalm 66:1-20
Proverbs 11:24-26

So here is the idea. We are reading through the One Year Bible together on Facebook. Each morning I will post something about the readings. You then make your own observations throughout the day, ask questions, share your favorite verse, that kind of thing.

A verse that caught my eye in Psalm 66 probably only did so because of the current crisis. “You have tested us, O God; you have purified us like silver melted in a crucible.” (Psalm 66:10) I cringe when people quickly and confidently assign blame or credit to God concerning world events. People who say things like the Coronavirus is punishment from God just drive me crazy. Like they know what God is or is not up to. So no, I am not implying that God sent the virus to test us.

But we are all being tested, aren’t we? In a time of testing we can learn something about ourselves and maybe something about God.

What grabs your eye in the readings for today?
