Reading for Today–April 7
Deuteronomy 32:1-32:27
Luke 12:8-34
Psalm 78:32-55
Proverbs 12:21-23
“Sell what you have and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven have no holes in them. Your treasure will be safe–no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it.”
Luke 12:33
I love this phrase–“the purses of heaven have no holes in them.” Goodness knows, my 401K has a hole or two in it, along with a host of other financial instruments. But not the heavenly purse.
Jesus seems so hard nosed about money and the misuse thereof. But I think it is because he does not want us to be disappointed. He does not want us to misplace our priorities and miss the ultimate treasure.
