Guidelines for Reopening Harpeth Hills Sunday Services

We appreciate your cooperation as we balance safety concerns with our desire to provide a meaningful, in-person worship experience. We ask that you extend grace to those who will choose to attend these services as well as those who feel that this is not yet the time for them to attend. Please review the following guidelines, based on the CDC, Davidson County Mayor’s Office, and the Governor’s Office, so that we will all be acclimated to our modified worship experience before we arrive. Thank you.

Who should not attend our indoor services yet and continue to join us online or worship outdoors?

● members with children under age two (those deemed too young to wear facial coverings).

● those over age 65 who are encouraged to continue to shelter at home. However, we are obviously leaving this decision to each individual.

● members with underlying health conditions and those who have regular contact with them.

● anyone suffering with any of the symptoms of COVID-19: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.

What changes/precautions will I notice?

● Masks–Until otherwise announced, we will be wearing masks out of respect to the health and comfort level of all other attendees. If you do not have a mask or forget your mask, there will be some available for you to wear. Those participating publicly will remove their masks when leading worship.

● Communion–As you enter the building, you will be given an individual communion packet. Please dispose of your used communion packet in the trash cans provided as you leave the building.

● Giving–We will not take a public offering. Feel free to give your contribution online, through the mail, or in the box provided in the lobby.

● Bulletins–We will not distribute bulletins as you enter. Please stay informed by reading the bulletin online and reading the church email updates sent out on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

● Seating–To maintain social distancing, every other row will be used with family units seated together six feet away from others. Ushers will assist you as you enter and exit the building.

● Building access–No other parts of the building will be available except for the Auditorium–please stay out of all other areas.

● Water fountains/Rest rooms–The water fountains will be unavailable, and the rest rooms should be used only in the case of an emergency.

● Dismissal–You will be dismissed by row so that we don’t crowd the exits; family units will need to stay together during this process; we will need to clear the building as soon as possible to allow adequate time for cleaning before the other services.

What will be offered on Sunday?
45-minute worship services only. There will be no nursery, classes, or children’s services.

How do I register?
So that we can make preparations and not exceed building restrictions, you will need to sign up online and check in as you arrive. Additionally, we will keep a record of attendees at each service in case we find that someone who has attended later tests positive for the virus. If such a situation arises, those who attended that service would be contacted.

Where do I enter?
Through the front doors on Old Hickory Blvd.

What if I don’t want to wear a mask?
Masks will be provided, and we ask that you wear one out of respect for others in attendance. Masks are optional for the outdoor services.

Are we taking temperatures at the door?
No. But of course if you are running a fever or feel unwell, we ask that you stay home.

How long will worship be like this?
Honestly, we don’t know. Generally, we are taking things one month at a time.

When can we expect childcare or children’s classes to resume?
Not before the start of school in the fall.

Can I continue to watch online?
Yes. The services will be streamed live on Sunday morning. You can watch the service live or later.

How will you keep services from becoming too crowded?
People can sign up for the service of their choice online each week. When the service fills up, registration for that particular service will close.
