Dear Harpeth Hills:
We honored our High School Seniors last Sunday evening. After rain and heat for several Sunday nights, a picture perfect evening was just what the occasion deserved. It was so pleasant, more than one of us said, “Hey, we ought to do this outdoors every year.”
Parents and family blessed these students last Sunday. To their blessings, I add these bits of advice.
• Try something new. Stretch yourself. You don’t know if you can do it until you try.
• Pray every day.
• Call your grandparents every now and then. One day they will be gone.
• Don’t start drinking alcohol. You can have plenty of fun without it.
• If you get a little homesick, don’t worry. It’s just part of it.
• Be aware of your surroundings. (My wife has told our kids this for decades. I threw this one in just for her.)
This group of Seniors and I share a joke. I have seen more than one rendition of them mocking my new way of closing sermons. Watch this video and then tell me they don’t have a sense of humor.
We are going to miss you. Be good. Behave. Be true to Jesus. And one last thing.
I love you.
Chris Smith
