Harvest Sunday

November 15, 2020 3:00 pm November 15, 2020 10:00 pm America/Chicago Harvest Sunday

Harvest Sunday is November 15 at Harpeth Hills. We will collect food donations to benefit several local food banks and organizations that morning and afternoon. Shopping bags will be available on Sunday, November 8, both at in-person worship services and for pickup from 2-4pm. Join us in giving back to the hungry in our community during this time of thanks.   SUGGESTED ITEMS: Canned meat Canned stews/soups Canned beans Canned fruit Canned vegetables Pasta Pasta sauces Dried beans Cereal Instant mac and cheese Instant oatmeal Instant mashed potatoes/rice Pasta/rice side dishes Ramen noodles Pancake mix and syrup Baking mixes (cake, biscuit, cornbread, etc.) Sugar Cooking oil Shelf-stable milk Gelatin/pudding snack cups Peanut butter Jelly/honey Granola bars Crackers Drink mixes, juice boxes Tea bags, instant coffee Can openers Baby diapers Wipes Dish detergent Laundry detergent Paper towels Toilet paper Hand sanitizer Cleaning products Soap Gloves Socks Tents Sleeping bags/blankets New/gently used children’s coats (ages 9-18) HELPFUL GUIDELINES: Consider items that do not require a can opener, i.e. pop-top cans or pouches. Check the expiration date on everything you donate and make sure it is at least one or more years before it expires. Think about a family of 4 – what kinds of healthy food would the children enjoy eating? What kind of food does a Senior citizen living alone or a couple need? The largest size may not be best – think about what your family typically buys. What do you consider necessities in your pantry? That’s a great place to start as you consider what to donate. Watch for “buy one get one free” sales at your grocery store for basic foods and used coupons to get more for your donation costs. Questions? Contact Ayesha Nasmyth.
